Corfu

I lived in paradise a while,
He made me laugh, he made me smile;
With sapphire sky and sea of jade;
Snow capped mountains and forest glade.

I touched love and he touched me.
I learned to dance and spin so free.
I leaned on arms that were wide and strong.
I sang in spirit and he became a song.

I followed rainbows and touched a star.
I heard a symphony of hope from afar;
She made me sad and took my breath
And called me down to look on death.

But up sprang hope and pierced my heart
And I and my true love can never part.
I tasted honey and smelt the dew;
And Paradise, she called,
She pleaded,
She cried,
take me with you.
